Fashion mourns the loss of catwalk photographer Christopher Dadey

Lauretta Roberts
05 September 2015

London-based fashion photographer, Christopher Dadey has passed away. Known throughout the industry as one of the best catwalk photographers, Christopher’s clients included Vivienne Westwood, Sibling, Bora Aksu, Industry member Eudon Choi, Fashion East, KTZ and Zandra Rhodes who said of his work, “Great composition and unsettling nature. Keeps you on the edge. Most importantly [you] can see the clothes.”

His work appeared in every major fashion publication and digital space around the world: GQ, WWD, Vogue.co.uk, i-D, Wonderland, The Independent, Tatler, Spin, ELLE, Dazed, The Guardian.

Christopher formed his career via a theatre and tech background in Toronto and Paris before settling in London with his partner of decades, fashion stylist, Rebekah Roy. Christopher and Rebekah are pictured above at an Industry meeting in March of this year.

Christopher was one of the kindest and friendliest photographers in fashion and enjoyed films, cycling and running. He was just starting to dabble in screenwriting – a passion that he finally had time to explore.

His last major assignment was London Collections: Men Spring/Summer 2016 and he was just gearing up for London Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2016. His designer clients are absolutely devastated with the news of his passing. Fashion designer Bora Aksu said, “Feeling such shock and sadness…what a great loss.”

Christopher died of natural causes at he and Rebekah’s shared flat in London on the 3rd of September. A service will be announced shortly.

The Industry owners Lauretta Roberts and Antony Hawman would like to express their deepest condolences to their dear friend Rebekah at this saddest of times. Our thoughts are also with Courtney Blackman, founder of The Industry, who has been a close friend to Rebekah and Christopher for many years and who prepared the above words.
