Transport for London has announced that the Elizabeth Line station at Bond Street is finally set to open to the public on 24 October.

The new station will help deliver passengers direct to the heart of Oxford Street and allow interchanges with the Jubilee and Central lines. Other nearby stations on the Elizabeth Line include Tottenham Court Road and Paddington.

The new station will provide a new link to the West End with entrances at Hanover Square and Davies Street, located near the Superdry and Disney Store flagship locations.

The station will also help relieve congestion at Oxford Circus station and make the area more accessible with step-free access.

Andy Byford, outgoing London Transport Commissioner, described the station as the "jewel in the crown of the West End's transport provision".

He added: "It is truly spectacular and will provide a highly significant new link to one of the busiest shopping districts in the UK, enabling even further connectivity to jobs and leisure for people across London and the south east."

The station will accommodate almost 140,000 Elizabeth Line passengers daily, contributing to an overall station capacity of 225,000 across the Central, Jubilee and Elizabeth lines.

Piers Townley, Mayfair Director at Grosvenor Property UK, commented: “This is welcome news for the West End and will provide a significant boost for the retail and hospitality sectors in the run up to the festive period. With Bond Street opening and our South Molton Triangle project set to create a new retail, restaurant and leisure destination directly opposite its western entrance, Mayfair is undergoing an exciting transformation that will further enhance its status as a destination of international significance.”

The next major stage for the Elizabeth Line will take place a few weeks later on 6 November, with the line starting to open regularly on Sundays and running between Shenfield and Paddington, and between Abbey Wood and Reading/Heathrow.

The final and full timetable, which includes end-to-end journeys and up to 24 trains per hour during peak times, is on track to be complete by May 2023.
