Crew Clothing Company CEO David Butler has stepped down after six years at the business, and has been followed out of the door by Trading Director Cathy Carrington Birch and Head of Technical Kerry Beckwith, according to This Is Money.

The retailer confirmed that Butler had resigned “by mutual agreement”. It has not yet been reported if a successor has been lined up.

The news comes after it was revealed in February 2023 that Crew Clothing was planning to open 40 new stores in the next three years, focusing its efforts on market towns and coastal resorts, and Butler was quoted in The Times as saying “footfall is back to pre-pandemic levels.”

Crew Clothing also launched a digital partnership with Marks & Spencer in March, becoming the latest brand to join the ‘Brands at M&S’ platform – with over 200 products available across menswear and womenswear, with scope for childrenswear and its new golf collection to be added in the future.

Crew Clothing is owned by private equity company Brigadier which acquired the retailer in 2017 for an undisclosed sum.
