Zara is set to significantly expand its presence at Liverpool ONE with an enlarged and refurbished store to open later this year.

The revamped store on South John Street will cover 42,000 sq ft, up from 27,000 sq ft, to allow for an increased offer of menswear, womenswear and kids wear and the introduction new in-store technologies, such as self-service areas and online order collection points.

Rob Deacon, Director of Asset Management at property group Grosvenor, which operates Liverpool ONE, said of the news: “Zara choosing to increase their investment in Liverpool ONE is a testament to the location’s reputation as a destination for flagships. As one of Liverpool ONE’s leading retailers, we have no doubt that the upsized anchor store will only serve to strengthen Zara’s sustained demand and loyal customer base in Liverpool.”

The upsized Zara store takes the total trading space of Zara parent Inditex to 68,000 sq ft at Liverpool ONE. The Spanish fashion group has opened Bershka and Stradivarius at the scheme and has also upsized a Pull&Bear store.

Liverpool ONE is one of Europe’s leading retail and entertainment destinations built around the existing streets of Liverpool and covering 1.65 million sq ft of open-air space. It is home to 170 stores, bars, restaurants and leisure experiences with brands such as BOSS, Hollister, and Goldsmiths among those to recently announce further investments at the scheme.

The revamp of the Liverpool ONE store is in keeping with Inditex's strategy to open larger flagship stores for Zara with enhanced brand experiences, including larger product ranges and digitally enabled services.
