Umbro teams up with Percival for collection celebrating “The Academy of Footballing Excellence”

Menswear brand Percival has become the latest fashion label to team up with heritage British sportswear brand Umbro for “The Academy of Footballing Excellence” capsule collection.

The new Umbro x Percival collection offers a selection of 90s inspired fits that both celebrate the football heritage of Umbro and the style of Percival, but in a playful way.

There’s geometric patterned football shirts, one with a large ‘Perci’ print on the front, training polo shirts and T-shirts, a coach jacket and a new take on Percival’s ‘Sherlock’ mac. There’s even a tongue-in-cheek ‘Mediocre Footy Skills’ scarf for the fans on the sidelines. Additionally, Percival’s name is used in Umbro’s typography to create a unique logo, and there’s minimalist “football action” graphics.

Chris Gove, Founder and Creative Director of Percival, said: “Whether it’s football, futsal or rugby, come rain, hail or shine, relegation or promotion, you’ll find the double diamond (Umbro’s logo). We couldn't not celebrate the mediocre footy skills of our five-a-side team, and there are no easy games at our level.”

The collaboration is the latest that Umbro has undertaken with a fashion brand, having previously teamed up with Nigel Cabourn, Palace, Christopher Raeburn, Henry Holland, Aries, Rowing Blazers, Patta, Supreme, Vetements and Off-White.

Prices for the new Umbro x Percival line start at £45 for a training T-shirt, going up to £239 for the ‘Sherlock’ mac. It’s now available on the websites of both brands, as well as in Percival’s flagship store at 7 Marshall Street in London’s Soho.
