TK Maxx to open at Queensgate in 2021
Discount fashion retailer TK Maxx is to open a 37,000 sq ft store on Queensgate Shopping Centre’s upper mall in March 2021.
Lendlease and Invesco Real Estate, the Peterborough centre’s global real estate investment manager, has just announced that work on the new store will commence in March 2020.
The store’s flexible no-walls design allows departments to expand and contract to reflect the latest trends and changing consumer tastes.
News of the move follows a successful 2019 for Queensgate Shopping Centre, during which John Lewis unveiled its new-look store.
The new look John Lewis store forms part of a wider £60 million extension for Queensgate, anchored by a ten-screen Empire Cinema. The extension will provide a further 77,000 sq ft of prime retail and restaurant space, and is set to be completed by Autumn 2021.
Several high-profile brands opened their doors in Queensgate last year including Skechers, Swarovski, Deichmann and Disney.
Guy Thomas, head of retail at Lendlease, said: “This is an extremely exciting period for Queensgate, during which a significant investment is being made in the centre. Having new retailers signing up to join us is testament to our aim of successfully positioning Queensgate as the dominant retail space in its catchment area.
“Our goal is to provide an unrivalled retail and leisure line-up, which provides visitors with an improved experience in preparation for the wider extension plans for Queensgate.”
