TK Maxx has opened a new 27,000 sq ft store at the Braehead Shopping Centre in Glasgow, selling “much loved brands and designer labels at affordable prices” across clothing, accessories, beauty and homeware.

The unit, which has been signed on a 15-year lease, is located in a prime position on the ground floor of the centre, next to Marks & Spencer.

Braehead is owned by property company SGS and managed by Global Mutual.

Steve Gray, Head of European Retail Asset Management at Global Mutual, said: “It is great to see TK Maxx open its doors at the centre. Household name brands like this one act as a real draw for shoppers and we know there will be a real buzz around the opening – especially as we head into the festive period.

“The new store will broaden our fashion and homeware offer, helping to keep the shopper experience fresh and compelling.

“We’ve welcomed a number of new brands and seen existing ones grow their footprint at Braehead over recent months – reflecting the continued resilience of physical retail in prime locations like our own. We’ve had a strong year at the centre overall and are optimistic about the months ahead.”

The move follows a host of other new signing and relocation deals at Braehead, with other recent openings including Scotland’s largest Superdrug, Sports Direct, Quiz, Poundland, Yankee Candle, and The Fragrance Shop. The likes of H&M, Boots and Apple are also at the centre.

Earlier this month, TJX Companies, the parent company of TK Maxx, reported a 9% rise in net sales to £10.7 billion ($13.3 billion) for the third quarter, ending 28 October 2023, and subsequently raised its full year outlook.
