TikTok Shop launches ‘Preowned Luxury’ category with five resellers

Social media giant TikTok is launching a ‘Preowned Luxury’ category on its ecommerce channel TikTok Shop, allowing users to browse and purchase second hand luxury pieces from within the app.

#TikTokFashion currently boasts more than 10 million pieces, often advertised by users via the platform’s short form video content.

According to TikTok, ‘Preowned Luxury’ will allow users to "learn more about luxury fashion, find style inspiration and purchase must-have pieces" in-app.

The hashtag #prelovedfashion has so far generated 62k videos on TikTok, which will enable preloved fashion brands to reach a new audience.

The category will launch in partnership with pre-loved marketplaces Luxe Collective, Sellier Knightsbridge, Sign of the Times, Hardly Ever Worn It and Break Archive.

Pre-loved buying and selling platform Luxe Collective (@LuxeCollective on TikTok) was founded by two brothers who built the business on TikTok via content featuring designer news and luxury pieces.

Sellier (@SellierLuxuryBags) is the UK’s fastest growing bag resale platform for brands including Chanel, Hermes and Dior, with brick-and-mortar spaces in Monaco as well as London’s Knightsbridge and Belgravia.

Sign of the Times (@sign_ofthetimes) has existed as a physical store in London’s Chelsea since 1976, but has since found great success on TikTok, with over 2.7 million likes.

Hardly Ever Worn It (@hardlyeverwornittts), known as HEWI, similarly offers a curated selection of pre-loved designer fashion and accessories.

Break Archive (@Break.Archive) was founded in 2022 by 19-year-old Gabriel Rylka, aiming to bring a Gen Z angle to luxury fashion.
