Sales at premium fashion and lifestyle brand Ted Baker were up 14.2% in the 19-week period from 29 January to 10 June, the company has revealed in its latest trading update.

Total retail sales for the period increased by 14.3% while e-commerce was up 35.9% and wholesale up 13.8%. During the period Ted Baker increased its average retail square footage by by 4.9% to 398,000 sq ft.

Chief executive Ray Kelvin said the group achieved the strong figures despite challenging market conditions. "This continued good performance across all of our distribution channels is a reflection of the strength and appeal of Ted Baker as a global lifestyle brand," he said.

"The continued expansion of the brand remains underpinned by an unwavering focus on quality and attention to detail as well as the passion, skill and 'Tedication' of our team. We are very pleased with the customer response during the period and, despite an uncertain macro environment, we remain positioned to deliver further progress and our expectations for the full year," he added.

Kelvin said the business was in line to meet the board's expectations for the full-year and would next update the market on its interim results for the 28 weeks ending 12 August in early October.
