Stuart Hill exits MATCHES for CEO role at DHL

Stuart Hill is set to leave the role of COO at MATCHES to join DHL eCommerce UK as its CEO this week.

Hill took to LinkedIn to share: "This week I start a new role as CEO of DHL eCommerce UK. I look forward to leading the company through the next growth phase and overseeing the opening of the company’s second hub in Coventry later this year.

"I am looking forward to re-engaging with the world of parcel delivery, in a company recognised for its unparalleled breadth and scale as we forge ahead with expansion. A special thanks to Peter Fuller who is retiring after seven years as CEO, during which time he managed the integration of UK Mail into DHL and re-established the DHL brand as a major domestic carrier in the UK."

Fittingly, Hill has an extensive background in logistics. Prior to his role at MATCHES, Hill worked his way up from VP to SVP of logistics at rival Farfetch. His illustrious career across retail and logistics also included stints at ASOS and John Lewis to name a few.

Hill's announcement comes after MATCHES was acquired by Frasers back in December 2023. Frasers Group confirmed the acquisition of MATCHES from private equity firm Apax Partners in a £52 million deal.

The move marked a significant loss for Apax Partners, which purchased the business in 2017 at a reported valuation of £800 million. In recent years, the loss-making fashion business reported a loss of £33.5 million for the year to 31 January 2023.
