Sneaker label Hidnander appoints first ever CEO

Sneaker label Hidnander has announced Adam Kakembo as its first-ever Chief Executive Officer in order to expand the company.

The sneaker label launched in 2019 with the "aim to disrupt the industry with a unique and sustainable proposition". The brand was created for the independent retail sector, to be distributed by wholesalers, and manufactured by craftsmen. Its key product is footwear, think trainers, basketball shoes, sandals and boots.

The name has sparked interest over the years until Founder Alessandro Vigano' revealed that he invented it when he parked his car. His headlights illuminated a Rolls-Royce, which was covered by a tarp. It was "hidden under", which Vigano translated into "Hidnander".

As Adam Kakembo stepped into the role, with immediate effect, he remarked: "This is an exciting time for Hidnander."

Harvard educated Kakembo boasts over 20 years of experience in the fashion, retail, and e-commerce sectors. Prior to taking helm at Hidnander, he was the Global Chief Marketing Officer at Aesop as well as Scotch & Soda. The industry veteran has also held executive positions at Wrangler, Timberland, Loewe and Levi Strauss.

Kakembo, who decscribes himself as a "a passionate and visionary leader who creates and executes global strategies that drive shareholder value, brand equity and customer loyalty", aims to implement strategies to grow the Hidnander business.
