New report unveils delivery shortcomings of leading e-commerce brands

Bodo, the eco-friendly delivery platform for e-commerce brands, has published an industry-first analysis on delivery expectations, revealing 40% of brands still have two-day (or slower) as their fastest delivery option at checkout.

This industry-first report, titled "5 Ways to Grow Your eCommerce With Delivery", reveals that UK ecommerce brands are delivering faster than ever before, but there is still plenty of room for improvement.

Bodo analysed the ecommerce checkouts of 50 top UK-selling brands, including such as Astrid & Miyu, Dyson, Missoma, Snag Tights, Lounge and Tropic Skincare, to discover if brands are missing out on simple delivery offerings. The report analysis the delivery speed, number of convenient delivery options, omni-channel solutions, and whether brands are optimising free delivery offers.

The report's key findings are as follows:

  • 48% of brands only offer business day delivery, which likely increases failed delivery attempts and inconveniences customers
  • 40% still have two-day (or slower) as their fastest delivery option and 48% have next-day delivery as their fastest option
  • 12% have recently upgraded to same-day or 30-minute delivery
  • 66% only offer one or two delivery options at checkout with 20% offering three, and 14% offering four or more
  • 86% do not offer omni-channel solutions and 66% of brands with stores did not offer click-and-collect at checkout
  • 14% fail to mention delivery speeds at checkout
  • 22% fail to inform customers of their free delivery offers on their landing page, resulting in missed opportunities

The report unveils the importance of delivery in customer satisfaction and how it can be leveraged against competitors. It also covers various delivery options and models, including same-day delivery and live order tracking.
