N Brown Group Chair Ron McMillan steps down
N Brown Group, the owner of Simply Be and JD Williams, has announced that its Chair Ron McMillan has retired from its board after 11 years at the helm.
McMillan, who is set to exit 30 April, will be replaced by group Chief Executive Steve Johnson on an interim basis until a permanent Chair is appointed.
Johnson said: "Ron has made a significant contribution as Chair and has played a critical role in the transformation of this company. On behalf of the board, I would like to thank Ron for his dedication to N Brown.
The company has commenced a search for McMillan’s replacement.
N Brown also announced that the Independent Non-Executive Director, Vicky Mitchell, will step down to focus on other "professional commitments" following its annual general meeting in July 2024.
This comes after N Brown Group confirmed that 35 jobs are at risk at its Manchester head office as part of its business transformation plan.
In its most recent financial report, the company announced that its revenues decreased by 9.3% to £226 million for the 18 weeks ending 6 January 2024.
However, the improving product revenue trend reported in the group’s interim results on 12 October 2023 continued in Q3 to -9.7%, following -10.4% in Q2 and -11.9% in Q1.
