Multi-charity concept shop 'Charity Super.Mkt' is coming to Glasgow Fort

Charity Super.Mkt is opening Scotland’s first-ever multi-charity fashion store at Glasgow Fort on 27 June, following its success in raising over £620,000 in London and Reading.

The concept store, which will be situated next to Mamas & Papas, will be home to pre-loved clothes and a DJ set every weekend.

Co-founders Wayne Hemingway and Maria Chenoweth are bringing the pop-up to Glasgow Fort. The retail space will offer hand-selected clothing supplied by seven UK charities including: Cancer Research, Chest Heart Stroke Scotland, Havens Hospices, Marie Curie, Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice, Shelter and TRAID.

Charity Super.Mkt in London sold 40,000 second-hand items in just 41 days of trading. Over 26,000 customers turned up to rummage through pre-loved clothes and accessories, finding treasures from brands including Ralph Lauren and Burberry. So far, 18,700kg of clothing was saved from going to landfill.

According to TRAID’s YouGov survey, 80% of second-hand purchases are made through charity shops. This renaissance in pre-loved shopping has been spearheaded by Gen Z, who are more conscious of the impact their spending has on the planet and are using social media to turn the masses' attention to second-hand shopping.
