As the Paris Olympics edges closer, Parisian house Louis Vuitton, is gearing up for a large brand presence at the event. Today, the LVMH-owned brand has announced that the NBA rising athlete Victor Wembanyama - otherwise known as Wembley - is its newest ambassador.

The athlete, who was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft, has set a series of records in his first season with the San Antonio Spurs. He's currently among favourites to win the Rookie of the Year title.

He previously played for French professional basketball club Metropolitans 92 and striving to compete with the French national team at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Thanks to LVMH’s sponsorship of the Olympic Games, the brand is prepping for a large take over of the global event.

"Striving for excellence and with a perpetual honing of craft, Victor joins Louis Vuitton on a journey of shared values and aligned ambitions. Like Louis Vuitton himself, the young athlete has blazed a trail, excelling in a career that is only just beginning," the French luxury house said in a statement to WWD.

Louis Vuitton may have hit the jackpot with the the French native, 7-foot-4 athlete, who also has a partnership with Nike. Last month, the NBA revealed that Wembanyama was No. 4 in jersey sales through the first half of the season, behind Stephen Curry, Jayson Tatum and LeBron James.

Wembanyama joining a slew of Louis Vuitton’s athlete ambassadors. The cohort is made up of tennis players Carlos Alcaraz and Naomi Osaka, swimmer Leon Marchand, skier Eileen Gu and more.
