Liverpool ONE is collaborating with Lone Design Club to create innovative tech-enabled window displays.

Liverpool ONE announced it is heavily focusing on supporting independent brands as well as increasing technological innovation for 2023. Its first activation is a collaboration with Lone Design Club, the sustainable brand collective, to create LDC Activates - a creative initiative that utilises the windows of Cricket’s upcoming flagship.

The project replaces traditional vinyls with tech-enabled windows, which use QR code surveys to capture customer sentiment. The technology provides a cost-effective alternative to traditional marketing techniques.

Chris Jukes, Liverpool ONE Director at Grosvenor, commented: “Innovation and independents have always played a role in the success of Liverpool ONE, creating additional reasons to visit, building engagement with consumers, and supporting the local community."

In addition, Liverpool ONE is supporting local businesses with a MerseyMade pop-up. The 3,200 sq ft pop-up is located on Peters Lane, showcasing and selling the work of a selection of artisans from the Merseyside region. It will remain on Peters Lane until the end of January, then moves to a second pop-up on Liverpool ONE’s Manesty’s Lane.

Customers can shop original artwork, handmade cushions, bags, baby accessories, and bath products. Creators involved include artist Jenny Dunlop, graphic artist Sophie Green, and textile specialist, Alistair McCready.

Jenny Dunlop, Creative Director of MerseyMade, commented: “We have been overwhelmed by the success of MerseyMade Liverpool ONE, with the gallery introducing so many new customers to so many local artists and artisans. The ability of Liverpool ONE to amplify our business is significant, and has been a great boost to the region’s creative community.”

This follows the recent news that Marks & Spencer is opening a new store at Liverpool ONE in mid-2023. The retailer is relocating from Church Street to create a new 100,000 sq ft store across two floors of the former Debenhams store on South John Street.
