Jonathan Saunders and The Rug Company
Industry member and acclaimed designer Jonathan Saunders, has just launched a new collaboration with The Rug Company. In Los Angeles this week to present his resort collections to fashion buyers and stylists, Jonathan seized the opportunity to celebrate the launch and have a word with the press: "I did furniture and product design before fashion and I come from a textiles background, so there’s a real synergy between what I do in fashion and this process,” the designer said. “Interiors is a big investment because they’re around for a lot longer. A rug is kind of a commitment.”

The collection comprises two area rugs and two runners, rife with bold colours and geometric patterns in true Jonathan Saunders style. The Scottish-born designer studied printed textiles at both the Glasgow School of Art and famous London fashion school, Central St Martins. Saunders is a renowned master of juxtaposition, finding beautiful harmony amid chaotic combinations. He joins the circle of fashion-cum-interior designers previsouly collaborating with The Rug Company including Sir Paul Smith, Dame Vivienne Westwood, Diane von Furstenberg, Tom Dixon and Matthew Williamson. Saunders will soon be adding a collection of cushions to his work, no doubt as masterfully flamboyant as the rugs.
