INDX Intimate Apparel delivers 'successful' show despite Commonwealth Games clash

Following its return to Cranmore Park in July, INDX Intimate Apparel saw the retail community turn out in force despite coinciding with the build-up to the Commonwealth Games taking place in Birmingham.

The organisers had already considered the potential disruption that might be caused by an influx of visitors descending on the UK’s second city for the Games. The show was subsequently brought forward by a day, opening Saturday through to Monday as opposed to Sunday through Tuesday.

Show organiser Martina Honeyghan said: “We wanted to avoid as much disruption for our exhibitors and visitors as possible, without moving the show too far from its usual calendar position, so although the decision was not taken lightly, we collaboratively decided to open a day earlier than usual. We have always been a business focused show which attracts serious buyers writing serious orders, and this edition of the show was no exception.”

One of the UK’s key order-writing show for lingerie, nightwear, swimwear and legwear stockists, INDX Intimate Apparel has continued to attract around 150 brands to each edition. Market leaders such as Wacoal and Chantelle are long standing exhibitors.

Alongside a wide range of exhibitor showcase, attendees also experienced a full timetable of extra events which included the new ‘Retail Insights’ speaker sessions chaired by Eric Musgrave, fashion journalist and TheIndustry.fashion contributor.

Joined by special guests including Mary Cameron, Managing Director of Chantelle Lingerie and Mark Tweed, Brand Director of Cyberjammies, Musgrave led engaging dialogue on topics including ‘sustainability’, ‘lessons from the pandemic’ and ‘selling intimates in tough times’

Having also attended the INDX Menswear & Footwear show earlier in the month, Musgrave was happy to support the show, commenting: “There was plenty of positivity in the halls. I have to say that the INDX set up is really good, I only hear positive things about it from both visitors and suppliers so long may it continue”.
