Independent fashion brand platform SilkFred records strong growth in January 2022

Online platform for independent brands SilkFred has published strong results for January 2022, recording 100% year-on-year growth.

The company also recorded a 169% increase during the first week of February compared to the same week in 2021, whilst the app grew by more than 500% in the past year.

SilkFred credited the positive business outlook to an increase in consumers turning to online shopping to discover clothes that are different from the high street.

It added that it expects 60% of apparel sales to occur online by 2025 and predicts UK online apparel sales to overtake high street sales in 2022, three years ahead of pre-pandemic predictions.

"It’s fantastic to see customers choosing to spend with independent brands!" Silkfred said.

The platform was founded in 2011, with a vision to create a fashion ecosystem of independent brands. It now hosts over 800 labels and has a million-strong following across its website and app.
