In Pictures: MCM gets a refreshed look for the Lunar New Year with the help of BAPE

German luxury fashion house MCM has teamed up with Japanese streetwear powerhouse *A BATHING APE (BAPE) for Spring/ Summer 2024.

Building on the hype of their debut collaboration in 2019, the two premium brands have reunited to celebrate the Year of the Dragon for the Lunar New Year.

The two brands have been woven into the fabric of pop culture over multiple decades – MCM for its monogrammed luggage and BAPE for the genre-defining 90s apparel.

Sabine Brunner, President and Brand & Commercial Officer of MCM, commented: "We are pleased to recombine MCM’s rich heritage of artisanship & mobility with the dynamic creativity of BAPE for this next drop.

"It is a true celebration of luxury streetwear that captures the essence of the Zeitgeist."

The latest MCM X BAPE Lunar New Year Edition capsule is characterized by playful graphics and the fusion of BAPE’s notorious shark motif with MCM’s signature Visetos. It features a golden dragon symbolizing "unapologetic confidence and irreverent style in the new year".

Thomas Hui, Chief Operating Officer of BAPE, said: "We are excited to join forces again with MCM for a collaboration that merges the best of both worlds. The launch of this capsule collection is an inspiring synergy of style, individuality, and an unbridled spirit of innovation. This sensational collection will elevate the whole luxury streetwear vibe to the next level."

The highly anticipated collection will be available on 5 January in selected stores and online.
