Gucci enters The Sandbox metaverse with Gucci Vault

Gucci has expanded its roster of digital activations with the acquisition of a plot of land on metaverse world, The Sandbox.

The Italian house joined the likes of Burberry, Adidas and Nike to stake their claim in virtual worlds, with the real estate project set to become an interactive expansion of Gucci Vault, the house's platform offering vintage pieces and curated collections.

Within the fashion experience envisioned by creative director Alessandro Michelle, digital collectables created by Gucci designers will be available for players and creators to buy, own, and use in their own personal experiences via The Sandbox’s various creator tools.

The Sandbox is an Ethereum-based open-world game and community-driven platform which allow players to build, share and monetise their virtual experiences.

Last month, Gucci partnered with SuperPlastic to create a three-part, sold out series of Gucci x SuperPlastic NFTs. The fashion house previously partnered with two Roblox developers to release an official clothing collection in December 2020, and created a virtual space on virtual world, Roblox titled "Gucci Garden Experience".
