Following today’s online collection launch, British streetwear brand Gbadebo is hosting two bespoke pop-ups at Flannels in Liverpool and London later this month.

The first pop-up will take place at 15 Parker Street in Liverpool on 19 October, before moving to Flannels X at 161-167 Oxford Street in London on 21 October.

It follows Mancunian designer and Founder of Gbadebo, Kemi Gbadebo, winning BBC 3’s ‘The Drop’, having also previously worked with brands including The North Face, Adidas, Ellesse and Depop, using her signature practice of reworking damaged or unwanted textiles and transforming them into new streetwear pieces, with prices ranging from £220-£885.

Beckie Stanion, CMO at Flannels, said: "I’m so pleased Flannels can continue its support of Kemi – it’s been an amazing, well-deserved journey so far. Gbadebo, Kemi’s vision, is a real reflection of what Flannels champions; young British talent looking ahead and contributing something that speaks to the values of the next generation.

"We’re excited for two of our flagships to become a platform for Kemi’s designs and know this is the start of a promising future for the brand."

Kemi Gbadebo commented: "After everything was in lockdown in 2020, I needed a creative outlet to deal with the stress of the situation we were all facing. I began tearing apart my wardrobe and creating new garments. I honestly did not set out to be a ‘sustainable’ brand, however, after educating myself around the problems in the fashion industry, it became a clear vision for my brand.

"At the height of the Black Lives Matter movement, I began to post my creations on Depop and quickly sold out. The press around the movement allowed my brand to grow and gain the exposure it needed, with a large demographic of people wanting to support black or POC owned businesses.

"I went on to collaborate with major brands, but always made sure to stick to my values and ethos; promoting and advocating for more sustainable practices and always practising what I preach."
