Fashion Scout names "Ones to Watch" for SS17

Lauretta Roberts
29 August 2016

Fashion Scout, the platform for emerging designers that is staged during London Fashion Week, has named its designers to watch for the SS17 season to be shown next month.

The four designers were chosen from a long list by industry experts including Fashion Scout founder and director Martyn Roberts, fashion writer Tony Glenville, stylist Rebekah Roy and the British Fashion Council's Kendall Robbins.

Roberts described the Ones to Watch show which takes place on Friday 16 September at 5.30pm at Freemasons' Hall as the "perfect launchpad for talented new designers".

Taking part are:

Ana Ljubinkovi - a Serbian designer who has previously shown her "kitsch traditional handcraft techniques for the modern woman" at Belgrade Fashion Week.

Anissa Aida - the label from designer Anissa Meddeb who is a graduate from New York's Parsons School of Design. The label draws on her Tunisian heritage juxtaposed with Eastern designs.

Billie Jacobina - this year's winner of the Graduate Fashion Week Indonesian residency and a graduates of the University for Creative Arts, her collection was praised by the panel for its innovative use of colour, texture and shape.

Ester Kubisz - a specialist in unisex, deconstructed tailoring, her collection featured distressed pinstripes paired with crisp cotton Oxford shirts designed to question the connection between the Western working uniform and social behaviours.

Roberts said the designers presented "completely different visions of the future of fashion. This is the success of Ones to Watch and why it is so popular."

The Ones to Watch initiative will once again be sponsored by Specsavers.
