In an homage to Comme des Garçons founder Rei Kawakubo luxury platform Farfetch has partnered with Dot COMME, an archive site for the cult brand, on a retrospective editorial shoot of both archive and current men’s and women’s pieces on the Farfetch site.

Based in Melbourne, Australia, Dot COMME Founder, Octavius La Rosa, has sourced and curated an extensive collection of unique Comme des Garçons pieces, acquired from all over the globe, for over a decade. His knowledge and passion for the brand has allowed him to curate his collection with a keen understanding for each individual piece.

The collection features Comme des Garçons signature avant-garde abstract designs, clashing prints, androgynous shapes and contrasting exaggerated textures.

Highlight womenswear pieces featured in the editorial include: SS01 red and white checkerboard dress; AW12 red 2D felt ensemble; AW00 yellow tartan boiled wool attachments suit; SS07 grey deconstructed tulle dress; SS97 “body meets dress, dress meets body” ensemble; and SS14 2D calico loop dress.

Highlight menswear pieces featured include: SS11 skull print suit; SS11 orange mesh shirt; SS01 red and white checkerboard suit; AW99 silk scarf kilt suit; SS06 signature suit; SS95 pixelated camo suit; AW07 bejeweled suit; and AW00 plaid switching suit.

La Rosa said he was "thrilled" at having an "amazing platform" to share his collection. "I’m so glad that those who aren’t so familiar with the history of Comme des Garçons are going to get a chance to better understand this incredible design house and see the influence they’ve had in so many aspects of design today," he said.

Farfetch is also a sponsor of the the Costume Institute Benefit, which takes place on 1 May, which marks the official opening of Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garçons: Art of the In-Between Costume Institute exhibition at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.

To celebrate the opening, Farfetch will feature an interview with Andrew Bolton, Curator In Charge of the Costume Institute, and Edward Barsamian, Vogue US Style Editor, for the inside knowledge on this year’s exhibit.
