Edward Enninful unveils his first Vogue cover
New British Vogue editor Edward Enninful OBE has unveiled his first cover for the iconic publication, featuring model and activist Adwoa Aboah photographed by Steven Meisel.
Enninful, who took over at the helm of the 100-year-old publication this summer following the departure of long-standing editor Alexandra Schulman, unveiled the cover for the December issue on his Instagram account.
He is the first male and black editor of the publication and he had been expected to shake-up the publication, which has only ever featured two solo black models on its cover (Naomi Campbell and Jourdan Dunn).
Aboah is the model of the moment and has been shortlisted for an award at the forthcoming Fashion Awards at the Royal Albert Hall on 4 December. As well as appearing in numerous campaigns and catwalks, she is a campaigner, activist and founder of the Gurls Talk platform, which encourages women to discuss issues from mental health to body image.
No further details of the contents of the issue have been released but in his Instagram post Enninful said: "The December 2017 issue is dedicated to Great Britain and the creatives who represent it at home and abroad." Names featured in the coverlines include Naomi Campbell, Sadiq Khan, Kate Moss, Victoria Beckham, Skepta, Steve McQueen and more.
