European footwear giant Deichmann has today officially opened its newest store at the Ashley Centre in Epsom following a £40,000 investment.

The retailer’s new store has opened in the former Sports Direct unit, covering 3,498 sq ft, opposite Pandora, WHSmith and Hotel Chocolat. The brand invested £400k in the space to reflect its new and improved retail format to deliver a more spacious and modern shopping experience.

Simon Wilson, Managing Director for Product, Marketing and Communications at Deichmann, commented: "Our latest store at the Ashley Centre is a huge investment and will enable us to deliver our wide variety of products to a new community.

"The designed retail format has gone down particularly well over the last few months, and it’s exciting to launch the new concept within a destination also undergoing significant investment, making Epsom a strong addition to our portfolio."

Creating 16 jobs, the new store stocks a full range of men’s, women’s, and children’s shoes. In addition, it will offer exclusive lines from brands such as Adidas, Fila, Nike and Skechers. It also stocks its collaboration footwear with fan favourites Ellie Goulding, Halle Berry, and Rita Ora.

Louisa Butters, Head of Retail Asset Management UK at CBRE IM, added: "Deichmann is a solid brand to have as part of the Ashley Centre’s retail mix. Suiting multiple demographics and delivering an assortment of likeable brands, they are a fantastic addition to the scheme, utilising a prominent space within the centre.

"We are continuing to deliver our long-term strategy to provide a broader offer, with the likes of JD and GAIL’s selecting the Ashley Centre, as well as welcoming one of the largest footwear retailers in Europe."

This news follows the recent news that JD will be joining the line-up at the Ashley Centre, further enhancing its footwear offering. The 4,453 sq ft store will be located on the ground level near the central square, adjacent to retailers such as Monsoon and New Look.
