Casely-Hayford unveils womenswear collection at LCM

Father and son menswear design duo Joe and Charlie Casely-Hayford unveiled a new collection for women on the last day of London Collections Men.

The collection was shown alongside its men's line up for SS17 (in keeping with the current vogue for showing men's and women's collections together) and drew on Casely-Hayford's menswear background with trouser suits, oversized overcoats and a crisp shirt (teamed with a mini-skirt for a youthful edge). A colour palette that combined blue, coral and peach with delicate patterns gave the women's line a distinct feminine edge.

‘’We are inspired by strong modern women who define their own parameters. We design bespoke pieces for women who know how they like to express themselves and want to gradually add elements to to their wardrobe rather than overhauling their style each season,’’ Charlie and Joe-Casely Hayford said of the launch.

Joe Casely-Hayford has been a leading menswear and womenswear designer since the 1980s when he dressed bands such as U2 and The Clash. He trained with legendary tailor Douglas Hayward and went on to study at what was then St Martin's School of Art. An OBE since 2007, Casely-Hayford has also been creative director at Savile Row tailor Gieves and Hawkes since 2005. Casely-Hayford the brand was launched in 2009 with his son Charlie, a graduate of Central Saint Martins.
