Burberry's chief merchandising officer Paul Price has been appointed as CEO of Topshop and Topman at Sir Philip Green's Arcadia empire.

Price, who has been with Burberry for 10 years with responsibility for men's, women's, accessories and children's products, will take up his new position on 4 September. Prior to joining Burberry, Price held a number of senior roles within Lucky Brand Jeans, Williams Sonoma and Banana Republic. He began his fashion retail career at US deparment store Bloomingdales.

Arcadia boss Sir Philip Green said of the appointment: "I believe Paul will be a great catalyst in leading the next phase of Topshop/Topman’s global expansion.”

The appointment comes after the departure of Topshop's long-standing managing director Mary Homer, who stood down in March to join fashion and lifestyle retailer The White Company as CEO. She had been with the business for 30 years and held the MD role at Topshop for 11 years.

Newly appointed non-executive chairman of Taveta Investments, the parent company of Arcadia, Baroness Karren Brady, said she was "delighted that Paul will be joining the team and I am very much looking forward to a new and exciting period for Topshop/Topman.”
