Boutique retailer Zee & Co is next on Frasers Group's hit list

Retail giant Frasers has confirmed that it has snapped up Zee & Co – a small chain store with locations in Essex and London.

Though Frasers confirmed the acquisition, they have not yet disclosed the sum.

Zee & Co was established in 1984 in Essex. Since then, it has expanded its retail network and now operates four luxury fashion boutiques in Loughton, Ilford, Bow and Islington. Though it stocks menswear, womenswear and childrenswear, its primary focus is on the luxury menswear market stocking the likes of Polo Ralph Lauren, J. Lindeberg and more.

The stores carry a curation of clothing from "established fashion houses, independent designers, and streetwear alike". Its melting pot approach reflects the distinct looks that have been cultivated by local subcultures and communities.

Zee & Co’s acquisition furthers Frasers Group’s ongoing takeover spree of independent retailers. Just this month, the group announced it had acquired Matches from private equity firm Apax Partners in a £52 million deal. In addition, this month also saw the group purchase premium menswear retailer John Anthony for an undisclosed sum.

This year, Frasers has been collecting stakes in diverse fashion brands such as ASOS and Boohoo. The rumour mill suspects Frasers Group had brought in its ex-boss to guide a potential online mega-merger with ASOS and Boohoo in the upcoming year.
