Young fashion etailer ASOS is to create 1,500 jobs at its London HQ over the next three years.

The business already employs 2,500 staff at Greater London House in Mornington Crescent and is expanding its space in the iconic building by 40,000 sq ft at a cost of £40m. The newly created roles will cover technology, marketing and retail.

New features of the expanded space will include a health club, training academy, quiet zone and tech bar, as well as a concierge service for staff.

"Our people are what make Asos special. We are creating a workspace that fosters creativity, where they can enjoy what they do," said CEO Nick Beighton.

ASOS was founded in 2000 by Nick Robertson, who stood down from his position as CEO last year. In 2007 it moved into Greater London House, an imposing art deco structure just south of Camden Town that started life as the Carerras cigarette factory in 1928.

The business recently came under scrutiny for the treatment of staff at its Barnsley warehouse, which is run on its behalf by logistics firm XPO, but Beighton strongly refuted suggestions of any wrongdoing.
