CFDA Awards 2015: The Winners
On Monday evening, the fashion industry was buzzing with the announcement of the winners of the Council of Fashion Designers of America Awards, or "The Oscars of Fashion" as they are affectionately dubbed amongst the fashion crowd. The annual event was held at New York's Alice Tully Hall in Lincoln Center and saw a stream of celebrity attendees, some of them proudly presenting awards to America's best crop of fashion designers. Actors Amanda Seyfried and Joshua Jackson, it-model Gigi Hadid and reality TV star Kim Kardashian—who had just announced her second pregnancy hours before— were some of the stars enlisted to deliver the prized awards.
Other celebrity attendees included January Jones, Emily Rossum, Pharell Williams, Katie Holmes and Diane Kruger who all came to support American fashion during its biggest award ceremony of the year.
Famous twins Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen were the biggest winners of the night, scooping up the Womenswear Designer of The Year award with their minimalist fashion label, The Row. They fought off serious competition with Joseph Altuzarra, Marc Jacobs, Michael Kors and Proenza Schouler all competing in this category. The Row had already won the prestigious awards in 2012, while receiving the Accessories Designer award last year.
Tom Ford was awarded Menswear Designer of the Year, while this year's accessories award went to shoe designer Tabitha Simmons. Singer and producer Pharell Williams was award the Fashion Icon Award.
British comedian James Corden, the toast of America recently with his brave career jump into late night television was hosting the proceedings, and delivered quite a risqué but well-received speech about some of fashion's most iconic members and celebrity followers.
