The group said its strong performance had been "underpinned by growth in all of the group's geographic regions". Net profit was up 15% at €2.88bn, while EBITDA also up 15% at €4.7bn. During the 2015 financial year the group opened 330 new stores in 56 markets, taking its store count to 7,013 in 88 markets. Its flagship brand Zara added 77 new stores to its network in 2015, taking its total to 2,162.

Inditex has also been investing heavily in online and will continue to do so during 2016. Last year it rolled out online sales to Hong Kong, Taiwan, Macao and Australia, and today announced the expansion of its online sales into Croatia, Slovakia and the Czech Republic. Next week it will launch online in Bulgaria, Finland and Hungary with further countries to be added in April giving it complete coverage in EU markets.

Commenting on the results group Chairman, Pablo Isla, said: "these figures demonstrate the Group's potential, boosted by the quality and the commitment of all of its employees."
