Yodel creates more than 4,000 new jobs as it gears up for Christmas 2022

Parcel carrier Yodel has announced that it is to recruit 4,000 temporary colleagues as the business prepares for the busy festive period.

A variety of roles are available at Yodel’s 50 locations nationwide, including employed and self-employed couriers, day and night parcel sorters, and team managers.

Recent years have seen a dramatic growth in e-commerce, feeding sustained demand for parcel delivery services and Yodel expects to handle over 200 million parcels this year.

This latest recruitment drive follows a series of infrastructure investments and will support the business as it scales up operations for peak. Positions are available across Yodel’s network at key sites including Bristol, Livingston, Newton Abbott, and Llanelli.

Mike Hancox, CEO of Yodel, said: “Christmas is always our busiest time of the year, but with 2022 bringing additional World Cup related shopping, we’re anticipating a festive season like never before. There are a variety of roles available, with many presenting an opportunity to grow into long-term careers. By joining Yodel, you will become part of a nationwide family and have options to work either full or part-time to suit your lifestyle.”

The announcement comes as Yodel records its first year of profits after a year of significant growth. The business has proven the flexibility of its network by developing a specialism for handling a vast range of delicate parcels.

Last month, The John Lewis Partnership announced that it will recruit 10,000 temporary staff this festive season across its John Lewis and Waitrose stores.

The cost of living crisis is expected to spell a challenging run-up to Christmas for retailers, with month-to-month overall UK footfall forecasted to decline in September, October and November.
