YNAP appoints former Burberry supply chain chief as global operations director

YOOX NET-A-PORTER Group (YNAP) has appointed former Burberry supply chain chief Mirko Nobili as global operations director.

Nobili was, until last month, Vice President supply chain the British luxury house where he spent seven years and will now be heading up YNAP's global omnistock logistics model, designed by the global online luxury group and implemented across 180 countries.

His key focus at YNAP will be on maximising its "proprietary hub-and-spoke omnistock logistics model", which has been custom-built to ensure an "unrivalled" shopping experience, significantly increased stock availability and advanced delivery options.

Centralised from two cutting-edge hub distribution centres in Bologna and Landriano (near Milan), Italy, and powered by the group’s new technology platform and smart data, the model enables a single view of all inventory and streamlines product flow between its nine global distribution centres, enabling maximum product visibility and "setting strong foundations for long-term global growth".

In addition Nobili will be responsible for digital production across the group, employing the latest AI and robotics engineering to create an extensive visual image library, which brings products to life for customers across each online store.

YNAP chairman and CEO Federico Marchetti said of the appointment: "For two decades, delivering exceptional customer service has been at the heart of the YOOX NET-A-PORTER approach. It remains as important as ever today to our Group and a major differentiator in the luxury fashion sector – for both clients and brands.

"Mirko brings outstanding levels of expertise and a strong track record in delivering operational excellence at a global scale. Together with the wider Executive Committee, he will play an integral part in delivering our mission to connect people with the joy of luxury and fashion that lasts a lifetime and beyond."

The group, which is the parent of Yoox, Net-A-Porter and Mr Porter, recently announced a successor for Marchetti, who is stepping down as CEO but remaining as chairman. Marchetti, who founded Yoox 20 years ago and became CEO of the combined YOOX NET-A-PORTER Group in 2015, will stand down on 4 January and hand the reins to Geoffroy Lefebvre, currently Group digital distribution director at YNAP parent group Richemont.
