Ye escorted from premises of Skechers after unauthorised visit

Ye, the music artist and designer also known as Kanye West, has been escorted from the headquarter premises of footwear brand Skechers after what has been described as an "unauthorised visit".

Skechers, which frequently works with celebrity ambassadors, clarified in a press statement that it had "no intention of working with West".

Its statement claimed that West had arrived "unannounced and without invitation at one of Skechers’ corporate offices in Los Angeles". He and his party then engaged in unauthorised filming.

The episode took place shortly after it was revealed that global sportswear giant Adidas had terminated its partnership with Kanye West for the hugely popular Yeezy footwear and apparel line (in 2020 the partnership brought in nearly $1.7bn in revenue for Adidas, according to Bloomberg, and was due to expire in 2026) following controversy over the artist's well-publicised antisemitic comments.

In its statement Skechers said: "We condemn his recent divisive remarks and do not tolerate antisemitism or any other form of hate speech. The Company would like to again stress that West showed up unannounced and uninvited to Skechers corporate offices."

Balenciaga has also severed ties after the controversy which also saw West wearing a "White Lives Matter" t-shirt at the recent Paris Fashion Week. His contract with Gap has also been terminated and he has been dropped by his talent agency CAA.
