{"id":224927,"date":"2023-01-27T09:26:36","date_gmt":"2023-01-27T09:26:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.theindustry.fashion\/?p=224927"},"modified":"2023-01-27T18:16:53","modified_gmt":"2023-01-27T18:16:53","slug":"n-brown-non-exec-gill-barr-steps-down","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.theindustry.fashion\/n-brown-non-exec-gill-barr-steps-down\/","title":{"rendered":"N Brown non-exec Gill Barr steps down"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><a style=\"color: #ff0000;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.theindustry.fashion\/the_directory\/n-brown-group\/\">N Brown Group<\/a><\/span> has said that non-executive director Gill Barr has notified the Board of her intention to step down; the move comes on\u00a0the\u00a0back of the home shopping group announcing falling sales in 2022.<\/strong><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Barr will be leaving the group, which owns\u00a0<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><a style=\"color: #ff0000;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.theindustry.fashion\/the_directory\/jd-williams\/\">JD Williams<\/a> <\/span>and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theindustry.fashion\/the_directory\/simply-be\/\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Simply Be<\/span><\/a>, following the conclusion of the Annual General Meeting in July 2023 and will not stand for re-election. Further announcements are to follow.<\/p>\n<p>She was first appointed to the board in January 2018, and was subsequently named Senior Independent Director in March 2021.<\/p>\n<p>Prior to her five-year stint at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbrown.co.uk\">N Brown<\/a>, Barr was a Non-Executive Director of Morgan Sindall Plc. In addition, she held the position of Marketing Director at The Co-operative Group and Marketing Director at\u00a0<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><a style=\"color: #ff0000;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.theindustry.fashion\/the_directory\/john-lewis\/\">John Lewis<\/a><\/span>. Barr also spent seven years at Kingfisher plc in a variety of senior roles.<\/p>\n<p>Gill Barr is currently a Non-Executive Director of McCarthy &amp; Stone Plc., PayPoint plc, Wincanton plc, and is also the Chair of Severn Trent Water plc.<\/p>\n<p>This news follows the group's announcement of falling sales in the last financial year. <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><a style=\"color: #ff0000;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.theindustry.fashion\/n-brown-group-sees-q3-revenues-drop\/\">N Brown reported a 7.6% decrease in revenue to \u00a3249.2 million for the 18 weeks ending 31 December 2022.<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The group's product revenue dropped 9.2% to \u00a3166.4 million, reflecting a \"soft and highly promotional\" market.
