{"id":224843,"date":"2023-01-26T08:10:14","date_gmt":"2023-01-26T08:10:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.theindustry.fashion\/?p=224843"},"modified":"2023-01-26T17:18:10","modified_gmt":"2023-01-26T17:18:10","slug":"almost-300-jobs-at-risk-at-asda-as-it-reviews-changing-customer-preferences","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.theindustry.fashion\/almost-300-jobs-at-risk-at-asda-as-it-reviews-changing-customer-preferences\/","title":{"rendered":"Almost 300 jobs at risk at Asda as it reviews \"changing customer preferences\""},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/corporate.asda.com\/\">Asda<\/a> has unveiled a major shake-up of store operations, which will put close to 300 roles at risk and reduce pay for more than 4,000 night workers.<\/strong><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The supermarket chain has proposed that overnight restocking shifts at 184 stores are moved to the daytime, putting 211 night shift manager roles at risk.<\/p>\n<p>It said the changes will also affect 4,137 hourly paid workers, who will see shift patterns move to the daytime and lose their night shift pay premium of at least \u00a32.52 per hour. The shift changes are likely to affect all departments including groceries and <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><a style=\"color: #ff0000;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.theindustry.fashion\/the_directory\/george-at-asda\/\">George at ASDA<\/a><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>The company said that the proposed change would mean \"more colleagues are on the shop floor during opening hours\". The proposals follow trials which reportedly \"delivered improvements in customer satisfaction and product availability\".<\/p>\n<p>Asda also revealed a 25% cut to the opening hours of 23 in-store Post Office shops.<\/p>\n<p>Ken Towle, Asda\u2019s Retail Director, said: \u201cThe retail sector is evolving at pace and it is vital we review changing customer preferences, along with our own ways of working, to ensure we are operating as efficiently as possible so that we can continue to invest and grow our business.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are now entering a period of consultation with our colleagues on these proposals.
