{"id":216615,"date":"2022-09-27T08:20:05","date_gmt":"2022-09-27T07:20:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.theindustry.fashion\/?p=216615"},"modified":"2022-09-27T18:18:20","modified_gmt":"2022-09-27T17:18:20","slug":"textile-forums-40th-show-to-put-focus-on-sourcing-locally-in-sustainability-push","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.theindustry.fashion\/textile-forums-40th-show-to-put-focus-on-sourcing-locally-in-sustainability-push\/","title":{"rendered":"Textile Forum\u2019s 40th show to put focus on sourcing \u201clocally\u201d in sustainability push"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.textileforum.org.uk\/\">Textile Forum,<\/a> which is taking place at One Marylebone in London on 12-13 October 2022, is highlighting a number of British mills and suppliers so buyers can source more \u201clocally\u201d as the focus on sustainability gains momentum.<\/strong><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Exhibitors at the UKFT event will include wool specialists Holland &amp; Sherry, Laurent Garigue and Lochcarron, and silk experts Henry Bertrand, Bennett Silks, Bridal Fabrics and Pongees, and there will be more collections incorporating sustainable yarns.<\/p>\n<p>Textile Forum Event Director, Amy Packham, said: \u201cThis October\u2019s Textile Forum is the 40th show. Over the past 20 years the industry has experienced challenging times, and, unfortunately, is continuing to do so.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat is encouraging is the resilience shown by both fabric suppliers and customers, many of whom have been with us since 2002.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur exhibitors are keen to promote their creativity alongside their \u2018green credentials\u2019, as well as their low minimum order quantities and stock holdings so they can respond quickly to designers\u2019 requirements.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Textile Forum is not just an important event for fashion designers, but also those creating costumes for the entertainment industry, such as for historical dramas for the leading streaming broadcasters, who are looking for fabrics and specialist skills, such as embroidery. That sector of the industry is particularly buoyant.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, the event has been attracting more interiors specialists, an area that is beginning to cross over into more retail apparel businesses.<\/p>\n<p>Alongside the fabrics, Textile Forum also provides the essential trimmings such as buttons, linings and packaging, as well as garment manufacturing contacts.<\/p>\n<p>Adam Mansell, CEO of the UKFT, commented: \u201cTextile Forum is a boutique event that brings together a broad spectrum of the industry in one place so that buyers can easily find what is on their sourcing shopping list and discover new suppliers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As the textile and apparel sector becomes more regulated, and consumers are increasingly focused on sustainability and ethical manufacturing, Textile Forum is aiming to reflect such changes at its October show.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p> [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":39,"featured_media":216616,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_exactmetrics_skip_tracking":false,"_exactmetrics_sitenote_active":false,"_exactmetrics_sitenote_note":"","_exactmetrics_sitenote_category":0,"footnotes":""},"categories":[10488,6,12969],"tags":[13630,10160,4039,14311,12287,10521],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v21.7 -
