{"id":211424,"date":"2022-07-04T09:14:02","date_gmt":"2022-07-04T08:14:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.theindustry.fashion\/?p=211424"},"modified":"2022-07-04T18:52:31","modified_gmt":"2022-07-04T17:52:31","slug":"amazon-launches-first-fleet-of-e-cargo-bikes-in-the-uk","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.theindustry.fashion\/amazon-launches-first-fleet-of-e-cargo-bikes-in-the-uk\/","title":{"rendered":"Amazon launches first fleet of e-cargo bikes in the UK"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Amazon has announced the launch of its first UK micromobility hub for more sustainable deliveries across Central London.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>E-cargo bikes and walkers from the new hub, along with Amazon's electric fleet already on London\u2019s roads, aim to make<strong> over five million deliveries a year across over 10% of London\u2019s Ultra Low Emission Zone<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Working with the London Borough of Hackney council, Amazon has created the new hub with plans to make more than one million customer deliveries every year, <strong>adding capacity to its fleet of electric vans<\/strong>. Amazon has over 1,000 electric delivery vans on the road in the UK, which last year helped the company deliver more than 45 million packages.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The new fleet of e-cargo bikes and walkers will replace thousands of traditional van trips<\/strong> on London\u2019s roads and also help reduce traffic congestion. The zero emission vehicles will expand further as <strong>more e-cargo delivery hubs are expected to launch across UK in the coming months<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The news <strong>coincides with the company's plans to roll out large scale solar panel installations at its facilities<\/strong> in Manchester, Coalville, Haydock, Bristol and Milton Keynes before the end of this year, to help power those facilities with renewable energy.<\/p>\n<p>These initiatives help move Amazon closer to its Shipment Zero mission, which will see the company deliver 50% of Amazon shipments with net-zero carbon by 2030 and achieve the \"ultimate goal\" of being net-zero carbon by 2040.<\/p>\n<p>John Boumphrey, UK Country Manager at Amazon, said: \u201cOur new e-cargo bikes, walkers and growing electric vehicle delivery fleet will help us make more zero emission customer deliveries than ever before across London and the UK.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p> [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":100,"featured_media":211427,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_exactmetrics_skip_tracking":false,"_exactmetrics_sitenote_active":false,"_exactmetrics_sitenote_note":"","_exactmetrics_sitenote_category":0,"footnotes":""},"categories":[6,10494,12973,12969],"tags":[9783,10713,17325,23380],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v21.7 -
