Ganni<\/a>,<\/span> the sustainable, contemporary women's brand from Denmark, could be sold by its parent L Catterton for $700 million, it has been reported.<\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Private equity house L Catterton acquired a majority stake in the brand in 2017 and has been focused on driving global growth.<\/strong> The investor is said by Reuters to have appointed banker Lazard to run the sale process with non-binding bids due to be submitted by 25 July.<\/p>\n

It has been reported that the buzzy brand, which has grown on the back of a strong social media presence and its tribe of #gannigirls, has attracted interest from potential buyers in China. Sources told the news service that the business could fetch a price of between $500m and $700m.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Founded in 2000 by\u00a0gallerist Frans Truelsen the brand has, since 2009, been run by husband-and-wife duo Nicolaj Reffstrup and Ditte Reffstrup,<\/strong> who were responsible for its shift to sustainably, contemporary womenswear with an off-beat approach to styling.<\/p>\n

The brand was almost single-handedly responsible for the ubiquitous printed midi dress with chunky footwear or trainers vibe that has been so dominant in women's fashion in recent years and it has attracted a multitude of imitators across the high street.<\/p>\n

Ganni was one of the first to prioritise sustainability and has introduced collections using repurposed past collections and rental services<\/strong>. It has collaborated with denim giant Levi's on a collection created from vintage and repurposed denim. It has also partnered with resale platform Vestiaire Collective to keep its garments in circulation for longer.<\/p>\n

L Catterton is one of the world's largest consumer-focus private equity houses and has made 250 investments over the past 30 years in brands including Birkenstock and Seafolly in fashion and Bliss in beauty.<\/p>\n

It was created in 2016 when Catterton and LVMH, the luxury conglomerate, and Groupe Arnault, the family holding company of Bernard Arnault of LVMH, partnered to create L\u00a0Catterton.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
