{"id":210429,"date":"2022-06-17T09:58:17","date_gmt":"2022-06-17T08:58:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.theindustry.fashion\/?p=210429"},"modified":"2022-06-17T18:36:27","modified_gmt":"2022-06-17T17:36:27","slug":"frugi-extends-funding-for-teacher-training-programme-with-eco-schools","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.theindustry.fashion\/frugi-extends-funding-for-teacher-training-programme-with-eco-schools\/","title":{"rendered":"Frugi extends funding for teacher training programme with Eco-Schools"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Sustainable children's clothing company <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><a style=\"color: #ff0000;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.theindustry.fashion\/the_directory\/frugi\/\">Frugi<\/a><\/span> has extended its support for Eco-Schools by funding its online Eco-Coordinator Training Programme for another year, providing free training for teachers and school or nursery staff in England.<\/strong><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The previous year saw Eco-Schools, managed by Keep Britain Tidy, present training to over 500 applicants funded by Frugi, many of whom have progressed to receive their Green Flag Award.<\/p>\n<p>Although free to sign up, a fee of \u00a3200 (+VAT) is chargeable to cover the online assessment fee for a school\u2019s Green Flag application during the May to July annual application window. Across 71 countries worldwide, the Eco-Schools programme offers pupils the freedom to decide on three of ten Eco-School topics to work on and develop.<\/p>\n<p>As part of its ongoing initiative with Eco-Schools, Frugi has donated funding for 750 teachers and school staff throughout England, from nurseries to colleges, to attend three immersive sessions.<\/p>\n<p>Open to the entire Eco-Schools network on a first-come, first place saved basis, the one-hour sessions allow them to learn more about the Eco-Schools programme and to deliver it in an education setting with students.<\/p>\n<p>In 2020, Frugi funded the costs for 150 schools in England to gain their prestigious Eco-Schools Green Flag certification. The schools complete a Seven Step programme, which maps out a meaningful path towards improving the environment in both the school and the local community whilst also having a lifelong positive impact on the lives of young people and their families.<\/p>\n<p>Adam Flint, the Education Manager at Keep Britain Tidy and National Manager for Eco-Schools said: \"Young people are more aware of the reality of climate change than any previous generation. They are passionate - keen to approach it with a proactive and positive determination.<\/p>\n<p>\"At the same time, the DfE\u2019s new Schools and Sustainability strategy is prompting schools to cover these topics in the classroom.
