{"id":167550,"date":"2020-10-06T08:51:00","date_gmt":"2020-10-06T08:51:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.theindustry.fashion\/dpd-launches-green-delivery-service-across-uk\/"},"modified":"2021-08-06T12:07:28","modified_gmt":"2021-08-06T12:07:28","slug":"dpd-launches-green-delivery-service-across-uk","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.theindustry.fashion\/dpd-launches-green-delivery-service-across-uk\/","title":{"rendered":"DPD launches green delivery service across UK"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Logistics company, DPD will be delivering zero and low-emission deliveries across the UK's largest towns and cities by 2025<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The green service will roll out <strong>across 25 of the largest UK towns and cities<\/strong> including, Birmingham, Bradford, Brighton and Hove, Bristol, Cambridge, Cardiff, Coventry, London, Manchester, Newcastle, Nottingham, Oxford, Plymouth, Portsmouth, Derby, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Kingston-upon-Hull, Leeds, Leicester, Liverpool, Reading, Sheffield, Southampton and Stoke-on-Trent.<\/p>\n<p>The service promises an <strong>89% reduction in carbon emissions and 80% in pollutants<\/strong> in the selected locations.<\/p>\n<p>The green service will be made possible through <strong>an investment of \u20ac200 million by 2025, including 7000 alternative fuel vehicles and 80 new urban depots<\/strong>. DPD plans to offer such a service in 225 cities across 20 European countries.<\/p>\n<p>DPD\u2019s CEO, Dwain McDonald said: \u201c<strong>We\u2019ve led the way on EVs in the UK parcel market, first with our all-electric micro depots in London and then with the scale of our nationwide investment<\/strong>.\"<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe already have over 700 EVs in the UK and they are in every depot. This is the next stage of our plan, to deliver totally green in 25 of the largest towns and cities in the country, drastically reducing our emissions in the places with the highest populations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<strong>We know from what we have done in central London that this model works, and we know that shippers and shoppers both love seeing parcels delivered green. So, we have made significant progress already<\/strong>.
