{"id":166724,"date":"2020-06-23T13:22:00","date_gmt":"2020-06-23T13:22:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.theindustry.fashion\/monsoon-accessorize-founder-says-only-6-10-monsoon-stores-will-reopen-after-lockdown\/"},"modified":"2021-08-06T12:06:16","modified_gmt":"2021-08-06T12:06:16","slug":"monsoon-accessorize-founder-says-only-6-10-monsoon-stores-will-reopen-after-lockdown","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.theindustry.fashion\/monsoon-accessorize-founder-says-only-6-10-monsoon-stores-will-reopen-after-lockdown\/","title":{"rendered":"Monsoon Accessorize founder says only 6-10 Monsoon stores will reopen after lockdown"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.theindustry.fashion\/intelligence\/monsoon\">Monsoon<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theindustry.fashion\/intelligence\/accessorize\">Accessorize<\/a> founder Peter Simon has told BBC Radio 4 that out of the 100 stores planned to re-open,<strong> only six to 10 of them are\u00a0likely to be Monsoon stores<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The news follows almost <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theindustry.fashion\/monsoon-founder-buys-business-out-of-admin-and-closes-35-stores\/\">two weeks after Simon re-acquired the fashion retail group\u2019s brands,<\/a> head office and distribution centre out of administration via a pre-pack deal.<\/p>\n<p>Adena Brands Ltd, a company under Simon's control, has since <strong>been in discussions with landlords to agree terms<\/strong> and save at least 100 stores out of its 230 retail store profile.<\/p>\n<p>Simon told Radio 4\u2019s<em>\u00a0You and Yours<\/em> programme that of that 100 \u2013 up to 10 of them will be Monsoon stores while <strong>the others will Accessorize shops.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201dOur intention is that there will be a few Monsoon stores,\u201d Simon told Radio 4.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn the end, there might be only six or 10 because <strong>we are going to be mainly an online brand<\/strong>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Monsoon Accessorize began to exit lockdown this week, with 12 stores reopening this week and plans for a further 20 each week until the end of July.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat I can tell you is that <strong>we are going open more than we thought we would<\/strong>,\u201d Simon said.<\/p>\n<p>He added: \u201cWe have had great landlord support, which is why we\u2019re able to open more.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<strong>We will have more than 83 Accessorizes open.<\/strong> There isn\u2019t really a direct competitor to Accessorize.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a lower price, has a wider appeal at airports and travel locations.
