{"id":166247,"date":"2020-04-27T18:26:00","date_gmt":"2020-04-27T18:26:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.theindustry.fashion\/asics-launches-edo-era-tribute-pack-eco-friendly-running-shoes\/"},"modified":"2021-08-06T12:05:35","modified_gmt":"2021-08-06T12:05:35","slug":"asics-launches-edo-era-tribute-pack-eco-friendly-running-shoes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.theindustry.fashion\/asics-launches-edo-era-tribute-pack-eco-friendly-running-shoes\/","title":{"rendered":"ASICS launches \"Edo Era Tribute Pack\" eco-friendly running shoes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Japanese sports brand ASICS has launched a new collection featuring running and \"SportStyle\" shoes that use <strong>recycled polyester made from PET bottles in the shoe upper material.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Called the \"Edo Era Tribute Pack\", the new collection underscores ASICS\u2019 sustainability credentials and recalls the <strong>eco-centric self-sufficiency ethos of bygone times in Tokyo.<\/strong> The eyes of the world will now be on the city in summer 2021, with the Tokyo Olympics rescheduled from summer 2020 due to coronavirus.<\/p>\n<p>The range is in keeping with ASICS\u2019 commitment to sustainability in various aspects of its business. The uppers of the collection\u2019s six performance running shoe models, and four \"SportStyle\" offerings, utilise recycled polyester fibres made from a total of around 300,000 PET bottles. These items represent the <strong>first stage of an ASICS\u2019 drive to switch to 100% recycled polyester fibres<\/strong> in all of its uppers by 2030 to help combat climate change.<\/p>\n<p>The collection also uses 100% recycled paper shoe boxes with\u00a0approximately 10% less material than ASICS\u2019 standard designs, and sees<strong> a switch from oil-based inks to water-based ones<\/strong> \u2013 halving ink usage. \u00a0The sustainable shoe boxes will expand sequentially from July 2020, and it will mean that in 2021 ASICS\u2019 annual CO2 emissions will be cut by about 1,200 metric tons.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p> [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":39,"featured_media":138287,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_exactmetrics_skip_tracking":false,"_exactmetrics_sitenote_active":false,"_exactmetrics_sitenote_note":"","_exactmetrics_sitenote_category":0,"footnotes":""},"categories":[10488,9763,6,12969],"tags":[19602,9875,9952,4039],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v21.7 -
