If there was one thing that came across clearly from the first week of Fashion Month, it was that shimmer, shine or a more subtle lustre will all be key for the season ahead.

And it’s a trend that should make its presence felt both for after-dark — when shimmer is always a favourite finish — and daytime too.

Designers chose the obvious way to shine with perennial favourite — sequins — being a key feature for skirts on the runways. But there were more surprising glints too with fine metallic fibres that dazzled their way down the runways (looking great as fluid fringes), or meshes of crystals and fine knits with sparkle crocheted in.

And while the obvious gold and silver were the leading colour directions, these shimmering pieces also came in all the other colour stories that the season has embraced from power pinks to must-have blues.
