Leading logistics provider Clipper has agreed a new \u201copen book\u201d 10-year contract with the UK\u2019s leading outdoor apparel and equipment retailer Mountain Warehouse,<\/strong> and a five-year extension of its deal with high street fashion giant River Island.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n The new contract with Mountain Warehouse will commence in spring 2021. Investment in automation and robotics will increase capacity to facilitate further growth<\/strong>, and the new contract will operate from Clipper\u2019s existing Peterborough distribution centre.<\/p>\n Marcus Ward, Chief Operating and Financial Office of Mountain Warehouse, commented: \u201cWe have been impressed with Clipper\u2019s innovative thinking and track record. The engagement from Clipper\u2019s senior team from an early stage, and Clipper\u2019s proven ability to meet our high standards,<\/strong> has given us the confidence to enter into a long-term partnership.\u201d<\/p>\n Steve Parkin, Executive Chairman of Clipper, added: \u201cWe are delighted to welcome Mountain Warehouse to the ever-growing family of Clipper customers. The contract enhances our command of the end-to-end service proposition in online retail<\/strong>, and it demonstrates that Clipper is also well-positioned to continue to support high street retail as it recovers from lockdown.<\/p>\n \u201cOur strategy to focus on providing innovative solutions in both the online and traditional bricks and mortar retail landscapes continues to drive value for our customers.\u201d<\/p>\n Clipper has been at the forefront of retail and high-value logistics for more than 25 years, and has been providing logistics solutions for River Island since 2017<\/strong>, delivering returns solutions from their distribution centre based in Ollerton.<\/p>\n Under the new agreement with River Island, Clipper will continue to provide returns solutions, in addition to providing a full range of logistics operations, including warehousing, distribution to high street stores and e-fulfilment<\/strong> services at River Island\u2019s existing distribution centre in Milton Keynes.<\/p>\n The new contract is planned to start in mid-2021. There will be a comprehensive transformational programme to drive the River Island\u2019s operations forward, development of an integrated omni-channel solution<\/strong>, and efficiency will be driven through the use of automation and robotics.<\/p>\n In the initial phase of the new contract, Clipper will continue to work closely with River Island in supporting its growth plans, while further optimising and \u201cfuture-proofing\u201d the operational solution.<\/strong><\/p>\n Will Kernan, CEO of River Island, said: \u201cRiver Island embraces change to make sure our customers can shop with us however and whenever they like<\/strong> in this fast-evolving retail environment.
