{"id":163816,"date":"2021-01-05T18:07:04","date_gmt":"2021-01-05T18:07:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.theindustry.fashion\/topshop-oxford-circus-will-not-re-open-after-lockdown-3\/"},"modified":"2021-08-06T12:09:45","modified_gmt":"2021-08-06T12:09:45","slug":"topshop-oxford-circus-will-not-re-open-after-lockdown-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.theindustry.fashion\/topshop-oxford-circus-will-not-re-open-after-lockdown-3\/","title":{"rendered":"Topshop Oxford Circus will not re-open after Lockdown 3"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Topshop's flagship Oxford Circus store <strong>will not re-open after the UK's third national lockdown,<\/strong> it has been reported.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>It <a href=\"https:\/\/news.sky.com\/story\/agents-kick-off-hunt-to-offload-greens-flagship-topshop-store-12177005\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">emerged over the New Year<\/a> that the 214 Oxford Street store, which first opened in 1994, is<strong> being marketed by agents Savills and Eastdil<\/strong> following Topshop owner Arcadia's fall into administration at the end of last year.<\/p>\n<p>The store was renowned globally and was<strong> one of the earliest examples of \"experiential retail\"<\/strong> housing a DJ booth and beauty bars long before they were the norm in clothing stores.<\/p>\n<p>It also became<strong> a well-known spot for model scouts in the 1990s and 2000s<\/strong> who visited the store to find new talent among the fashion-hungry teens that flocked to the sites at weekends.<\/p>\n<p>Shoppers have been sharing their memories of the store on social media and expressing their sadness at the closure of a London landmark.<\/p>\n<p>https:\/\/twitter.com\/NatalyaLobanova\/status\/1346417494882463750<\/p>\n<p>The 214 Oxford Street site <strong>also houses Nike Town and a new branch of Vans,<\/strong> which took over the space formerly occupied by Topshop sister brand Miss Selfridge.
