{"id":163729,"date":"2020-12-18T17:20:26","date_gmt":"2020-12-18T17:20:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.theindustry.fashion\/shopping-centre-owner-hammerson-seeks-dublin-listing-to-keep-eu-foothold\/"},"modified":"2021-08-06T12:09:36","modified_gmt":"2021-08-06T12:09:36","slug":"shopping-centre-owner-hammerson-seeks-dublin-listing-to-keep-eu-foothold","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.theindustry.fashion\/shopping-centre-owner-hammerson-seeks-dublin-listing-to-keep-eu-foothold\/","title":{"rendered":"Shopping centre owner Hammerson seeks Dublin listing to keep EU foothold"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Shopping centre giant Hammerson has said it is<strong> seeking a secondary listing in Dublin ahead of the UK\u2019s looming exit from the EU.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The company, which owns Birmingham\u2019s Bullring, will<strong> keep a foothold in the EU<\/strong> by listing with the Euronext Dublin stock market.<\/p>\n<p>The FTSE 250 company said it <strong>expects its shares to begin trading in Ireland as early as next week.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Hammerson said that the secondary listing will enable to it <strong>maintain an \u201cefficient\u201d business structure across its European portfolio.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As of June, the company owned and operated \u00a31.2bn worth of shopping destinations in France and \u00a3800m worth of property in Ireland.<\/p>\n<p>It said that about <strong>27% of its share capital was held by institutional investors based in the European Economic Area<\/strong>, excluding the UK, as of 23 November.<\/p>\n<p>After 1 January, the UK will no longer be inside the EU single market for financial services and the country\u2019s access rights will be decided independently by Brussels.<\/p>\n<p>The UK Government has<strong> lobbied for its regulations to be recognised as equivalent to the EU\u2019s<\/strong> but the issue remains uncertain as the transition period draws to a close.<\/p>\n<p>Hammerson\u2019s secondary listing comes weeks after warehousing group Segro launched a secondary listing in Paris in preparation for the Brexit.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p> [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":68,"featured_media":141746,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_exactmetrics_skip_tracking":false,"_exactmetrics_sitenote_active":false,"_exactmetrics_sitenote_note":"","_exactmetrics_sitenote_category":0,"footnotes":""},"categories":[10585,6,10494],"tags":[11754,15415,12729,8,9786],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v21.7 - https:\/\/yoast.com\/wordpress\/plugins\/seo\/ -->\n<title>Shopping centre owner Hammerson seeks Dublin listing to keep EU foothold - TheIndustry.fashion<\/title>\n<meta name=\"description\" content=\"Shopping centre giant Hammerson has said it is seeking a secondary listing in Dublin ahead of the UK\u2019s looming exit from the EU.
