{"id":162612,"date":"2019-11-28T17:35:31","date_gmt":"2019-11-28T17:35:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.theindustry.fashion\/roberto-cavalli-acquired-by-dubai-based-property-tycoon\/"},"modified":"2021-08-12T14:05:39","modified_gmt":"2021-08-12T14:05:39","slug":"roberto-cavalli-acquired-by-dubai-based-property-tycoon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.theindustry.fashion\/roberto-cavalli-acquired-by-dubai-based-property-tycoon\/","title":{"rendered":"Roberto Cavalli acquired by Dubai-based property tycoon"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Italian luxury brand Roberto Cavalli has been acquired by <strong>chairman of <span class=\"xn-location\">Dubai-<\/span>based DAMAC Properties,<\/strong> <span class=\"xn-person\">Hussain Sajwani<\/span>, through his private investment company, Vision Investments.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The UAE-based <strong>investment company emerged as the top bidder among various entities<\/strong> that were vying for the globally recognised Florentine fashion brand and the deal was competed today.<\/p>\n<p>German fashion designer Philipp Plein, private equity firm Blue Skye Financial Partners, brand house Bluestar Alliance, and Diesel owner Renzo Rosso were also believed to be interested in buying Roberto Cavalli, which was <strong>previously controlled by the Italian Private equity company, Clessidra.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The acquisition of the fashion house by Vision Investments, part of the DICO Group, is <strong>an evolution of a partnership that was signed in 2017 between Roberto Cavalli and the DICO Group.<\/strong> Under the partnership, Roberto Cavalli will develop the interiors for luxury hotels under the \"AYKON Hotels with interior design by Roberto Cavalli\" brand.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_131693\" style=\"width: 613px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-131693\" class=\" wp-image-131693\" src=\"https:\/\/www.theindustry.fashion\/wp-content\/uploads\/DAMAC_Properties_Hussain_Sajwani-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Roberto Cavalli\" width=\"603\" height=\"452\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-131693\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Hussain Sajwani, founder and Chairman of DAMAC Properties and the DICO Group of Companies<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Speaking about the acquisition, <span class=\"xn-person\">Sajwani<\/span> said:\u00a0\"We are excited about carrying forward the incredible legacy of the Roberto Cavalli brand. DICO has a long and fruitful association with Roberto Cavalli, and<strong> I believe that the brand resonates with our idea of luxury.<\/strong> I am happy to announce that the transaction was executed swiftly and that we will ensure stability in management.<\/p>\n<p>\"At DICO Investments,<strong> we aspire to own internationally recognized brands,<\/strong> and this acquisition marks a significant step in our strategy.\"<\/p>\n<p>Established in 1992, the DICO Group is the <strong>multi-billion-dollar investment arm of <span class=\"xn-person\">Hussain Sajwani<\/span><\/strong> with diverse interests in markets around the world. The company's investments are divided into five core areas; Capital markets, Real Estate, Hotels &amp; Resorts, Manufacturing and Catering, and now luxury fashion.<\/p>\n<p>Some of DICO Investment's most notable activities include <strong>the 50-storey DAMAC Towers Nine Elms in <span class=\"xn-location\">London<\/span>,<\/strong> a luxury resort in the <span class=\"xn-location\">Maldives<\/span>, shopping malls in <span class=\"xn-location\">Iraq<\/span>, and the Mina Al Sultan Qaboos Waterfront real estate project in <span class=\"xn-location\">Oman, among others<\/span>.
