{"id":162185,"date":"2019-09-11T13:50:54","date_gmt":"2019-09-11T13:50:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.theindustry.fashion\/gant-welcomes-return-of-christopher-bastin-as-creative-chief\/"},"modified":"2021-08-12T14:04:18","modified_gmt":"2021-08-12T14:04:18","slug":"gant-welcomes-return-of-christopher-bastin-as-creative-chief","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.theindustry.fashion\/gant-welcomes-return-of-christopher-bastin-as-creative-chief\/","title":{"rendered":"GANT welcomes return of Christopher Bastin as creative chief"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"page\" title=\"Page 1\">\n<div class=\"layoutArea\">\n<div class=\"column\">\n<p>Christopher Bastin, the former creative director of GANT, is returning to the brand after a four-year absences in the <strong>new role of Global Artistic Director on 1 October.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<div class=\"page\" title=\"Page 1\">\n<div class=\"layoutArea\">\n<div class=\"column\">\n<p>Bastin\u2019s role is to be the \"creative and inspirational catalyst of the brand\", which this year <strong>celebrates its 70-year anniversary.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>He was previously creative director at the brand from 2012-2015 and prior to that was head of design at GANT Rugger for more than seven years. Since leaving GANT he has held roles at Frame, at his own agency CBCA and Indiska.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m excited to be rejoining GANT as Artistic Director,\u201d Bastin said. \u201c<strong>It\u2019s been four years since I left, and a lot has changed.<\/strong> Things are moving faster than ever, consumers are more educated, and the competition is even more fierce. During the time I spent running my own creative agency, working for brands like Frame and NN07, I\u2019ve gathered new experience, knowledge and a point of view that I will be bringing with me. GANT is already a well-oiled machine and this is a great time for American sportswear.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In his new role he will work across all creative platforms <strong>in close collaboration with Karen Vogele, EVP Product and Design<\/strong>. Bastin will take the lead artistically while Vogele continues to have full responsibility for the product and design organization.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cChristopher has a profound understanding of GANT and brings a creative infusion not only to the design department, but to the whole company,\u201d says Brian Grevy, CEO. \u201c<strong>This new role is cross functional, very creative and free,<\/strong> he will work with external collaborations and operate as a sounding board for everyone at the company.
